The Grange Gazette

September 2024 Edition

Congratulations to Margaret H on adding another winning trophy to her collection and for being our

Keepy-Uppy Champion of 2024!

Last month our residents enjoyed taking part in a mini-olympic games and each participant deservedly received a gold medal.  Earlier in the year Margaret became joint winner of the Terry Hallam Memorial Quiz Trophy.  With 40 keepy-uppies during our balloon-tennis olympic challenge Margaret has clearly become the outstanding champion of the activities event.

A big well done from everyone at the Grange.

Activities and Entertainment

We have a lovely month to look forward to with visits from Paul Newsham and also Pooches Therapy Dogs, Bertie and Ruby.  There will more entertainment from

Terry Mundy, Johnny Victory and our very own choir The Elderberries will enjoy singing practice with Papa Jon.

We have finally completed all our artwork and Steve is currently displaying your paintings, paper sculptures and poetry in the dining room. It is totally transforming the dining space and already receiving encouraging comments from staff and visitors alike.

Our Memory Lane Project is coming to a close and will be displayed along the upstairs corridor. To celebrate its completion we will be holding a special ‘Memory Lane Tea’ which will include some of your favourite treats and the memorable meals discussed during reminiscence sessions. The Memory Lane recipe book is currently at the printers and copies will be available for residents and families to enjoy.

On Friday 27th September Macmillan supporters hold coffee mornings all over the country.  While our residents will enjoy their own coffee morning we will be holding a coffee and cake themed raffle to raise funds for such a good cause.  Raffle tickets will be on sale prior to the day with details displayed in the reception area.

Papa Jon continues to support the Grange and volunteers his time to play backing music for our choir. We wish him good luck and fine weather during his own fundraising event for Cancer Research UK at the Chequers Inn in Breaston on September 14th from 2pm.

September Birthdays

This month we celebrate four birthdays with Gill on the 4th, Val on the 15th, Audrey on the 17th and finally Jean on the 21st. Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes to each of you on your very special days.

August Quiz

Last month we tried something different for our quiz competition which incorporated the television game show ‘The Price is Right’. We looked at items in our shopping basket to guess the price and also looked at the new notes and stamps in circulation which now bear the head of King Charles.  Thank you to all those who enjoyed taking part and we are pleased to announce Val. Margaret W and Margaret H received the highest marks. Well done.

Well done.
