Live & Local LivingRoom

Earlier in the year we began a project supported by Live & Local LivingRoom and worked alongside Laura Brodrick, a graphic and creative facilitator.  Residents enjoyed sharing memories and stories about their lives which were captured in illustrations by Laura and together we created personalised ‘timelines’ which included tactile items and voice recordings. ‘Sharing my Story’ is a continuous and evolving project and we look forward to hearing many more individual memories which we can recreate and add to our display.

Our residents are extremely proud of their achievements and we are pleased to announce the project can now be viewed on YouTube Live & Local LivingRoom Lifelines; the rich stories of older people in residential care.

We have lots of people to thank this month for their acts of kindness.

Velocette Owners Club

Our many thanks to Paul, Richard and Graham who visited the Grange with their vintage motorbikes after learning one of our residents had once owned a Velocette.  The sight of shining chrome work and the roar of the engines delighted residents who reminisced about the thrill of riding their own machines. Thank you for the gift bag of goodies for our fellow Velocette enthusiast, you made it a very memorable day.

Sawley Womens Institute

Janette and the amazingly creative ladies of Sawley WI have answered our call for knitters and made 16 twiddle blankets for the Grange. Janette is currently knitting poppies to display on Remembrance Day and we will also be raising funds for the British Legion by selling various poppy themed items created by residents.
