ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR

Thoughts and memories….

Mushy peas with mint sauce, Grantham Gingerbread, Brandy Snaps, Candy Floss, Toffee Apples, Cock-on-a-Stick, Big Wheel, Dodgems, Gallopers, Cake-Walk, Boxing Booth, winning a goldfish and ‘It’s proper Goose Fair weather, wrap up warm!’

The traditional Goose Fair in Nottingham and the Ilkeston Charter Fair have both been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus.  Bonfire and firework displays at West Park, the Chestnut Fair in Long Eaton and Christmas light ‘switch-on’ events in both towns have also been cancelled.

Not to be deterred we will celebrate our own ‘Grange Fair’ on the afternoon of Wednesday 14th October with memories, games and prizes all relating to the ‘Fun of the Fair’.  We hope you enjoy a lovely afternoon.

The weather is currently changing with a feel of autumn in the air. During the early hours of Sunday 25th October the clocks will be TURNING BACK and we gain an extra hour.

This month we will also see two full moons, the first ‘Harvest Moon’ on Thursday 1st October and the second full moon on October 31st.  This will be a rare ‘Blue Moon’.

This year we are bringing you a Christmas Pantomime performed entirely by our lovely staff.

Rehearsals will be underway in the coming weeks and details of the show will be posted on the notice board.  If you would like to assist in any way please have a word with Shirley who is always grateful for your help.

Monthly Quiz

Last month our Harvest Festival Quiz was well received by all and Terry, Ernest, Sheila and Noreen each attained 100 percent.  Congratulations and well done to everyone who entered the competition.  This month our quiz will relate to ‘Autumn’ with the winner announced in the November newsletter.

Birthdays at the Grange

We celebrate three birthdays during October with Margaret K on the 3rd, Vera D on the 9th and Zoe on the 15th. Everyone at the Grange send warm birthday wishes to you all on your special days and  congratulatory best wishes to Vera who celebrates her 102nd birthday.

Staff News

We are pleased to welcome two new members of staff to the Grange.  Siana has joined the Care Team and Marie our Domestic Team.  We hope you will both be very happy at the Grange.

A big well done to Lorraine Smith-Moreno for passing her NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Management.  Congratulations on your achievement.
