GRANGE GAZETTE

NOVEMBER 2017 EDITION

We hope you enjoyed the beautiful flower displays throughout the Grange during our Flower Festival. In answer to our quiz the six displays related to your chosen musicals which were South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Wizard of Oz, the Sound of Music, Carousel and Top Hat. We hope to make this an annual event in our calendar.

Well done and thank you to everyone for your help with particular thanks to Christine for your assistance.

The clocks have fallen back an hour and the evenings are drawing in. With our Christmas Fayre a matter of weeks away we will be preparing for the event and making items to sell on the popular 'Resident's Stall'.

Please see Shirley if you have any items which can be used on the Tombola or Bric-a-Brac stall. Your donations are very much appreciated and make a great difference to our fundraising events.

This year our Christmas Fayre will be held on Saturday 9th December and we look forward to seeing our residents, family, friends and staff for a lovely afternoon. We anticipate Father Christmas will be arriving around 2pm to open the event. ‘Singing Santa’ will be entertaining everyone in the main lounge during the afternoon while Jules will be providing entertainment in the foyer area. We have a variety of stalls and games, light refreshments and delicious Festive Rolls. Our famous Grand Raffle will be drawn at the close of the fayre.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Father Christmas has also asked Shirley to let all the little girls and boys know he will be calling at the Grange on the morning of Saturday 2nd December. If your grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces or nephews would like to meet Shirley in the foyer at 10.30am for cookies and milk we can be ready for Father Christmas to arrive! Bring along your 'wish lists' and letters for Father Christmas too!

The elves always send a little present for children who are able to visit the Grange on the day. It’s a little thank you for the lovely letters which help them make the right toys in the Toy Workshop. It would be helpful if letters for Father Christmas could include a name and address to enable a reply through Royal Elf Mail.

Please see Shirley to include your child or children’s name on her list to ensure the elves include enough presents on Santa’s Sleigh.

We also have a children’s colouring and drawing competition so please keep looking on the notice board for details. The winner will be announced at the Christmas Fayre and receive a £10 one4all gift card.

Good luck to all that take part.

November Birthdays

This month we see the birthdays of Kathleen Wray on the 6th, Jessie on the 7th, Eddie on the 20th and Alma on the 28th. Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes on your special days.

October Quiz

Last month the quiz related to our Flower Festival and was particularly difficult. Well done to all those who took part and congratulations to Ida, Miriam, Ernest and Catharine who did exceptionally well and gained top marks.

Our fun mini quiz about Goose and Ilkeston Fair was a draw between Ernest, Miriam and the ladies from Ilkeston in the main lounge. Well done!
