THE GRANGE GAZETTE

MAY 2017 EDITION

Do you remember back in childhood

How we loved the first day of May?

When we hung flower filled baskets

On doorknobs, then relaxed the dear day away.

Do you remember how the sweetest basket was for the one we loved the best?

In it went the blossoms and delicious treats

That were far better than the rest.

Such a beautiful and gracious custom

Somehow lost along the way,

But the memories still linger

As we welcome in the Month of May.

We have a busy month ahead and our Open Day on Saturday May 6th. There will be a variety of activities including photography, flower arranging, painting, cake decorating and sensory activities. You will be able to see an example of a ‘Life History Book’ along with the Grange Recipe Book. Visitors will be able to view our menu and sample gateaux from the kitchen.

From the dining room visitors can also see Mr McGregor’s Garden. The courtyard is beginning to take shape with potatoes, strawberries and runner bean plants. When the weather improves we hope to introduce tomatoes and more herbs.

During the afternoon C.K. Cody will entertain everyone with his popular Country and Western songs.  We look forward to the pleasure of your company.

On May10th we have arranged for Clip Clop Ponies to bring Holly their miniature Shetland Pony to visit everyone at the Grange. Sadly Holly is not allowed into the resident’s personal rooms but she will be in the main lounge so we can brush and pet her during the visit.

On Friday 19th May we have invited our friends from the Risley ‘Not So Young Group’ to the Grange and we can all join in an afternoon of prize bingo. We always include a free raffle for residents and visitors.  The afternoon event will include ‘Birds’ cream cakes for everyone so please see Shirley so she can order your favourite cake on the day.

Also make a note in your June diary when ‘Worrizit’ return by popular demand on Friday 2nd.

SUMMER FAYRE FLYPAST

The RAF have contacted Shirley regarding the Flypast during our Summer Fayre and they will telephone her mid-May to confirm timings.  Details will be displayed on the notice board and in the June newsletter.

DONATIONS FOR THE SUMMER FAYRE AND VOLUNTEERS

It is always a busy time of year and Shirley much appreciates your help and assistance during this period.

Donations of bric-a-brac, toys, teddy bears and items suitable for tombola prizes would be most welcome. It would be lovely to have a cake, preserve and chutney stall and any offers to bake would be wonderful.

Should anyone wish to hold a stall of their own or if anyone is able to help during the event by running a stall please have a word with Shirley.

Thank you to everyone, your continued support makes a great difference.
