GRANGE GAZETTE

MARCH 2021 EDITION

Daffy-Down-Dilly

Daffy-down-dilly has come to town

In her yellow petticoat

And pretty green gown,

She turned to the sunlight

And shook her little head

And whispered to her neighbour

Winter is dead.

If was lovely to see our crafters joining the BBC Radio Derby campaign and making daffodils and bows for our display.  Your enormous daffodil is spreading happiness on the main railing outside the Grange while paper flowers are displayed in rooms and the garden.  Nature is an inspiration and we look forward to a welcoming Spring.

Live & Local LivingRoom Project

Over the coming weeks we will be creating a display of ‘life stories’ with the help of Live&Local.  Live&Local connect artists with the community to create interactive projects and we have been teamed with Laura Broderick who is an amazing Graphic and Creative Facilitator.

Laura will create small drawings from your memorable events along with textile items and we invite residents and family to join us on our adventure.  Life stories will be displayed on a large portable notice board which can be moved around the Grange so everyone can participate and enjoy the project. We also hope to decorate and personalise individual memory boxes to hold the  artwork created from your special memories.

Shirley will be working alongside Laura and families are welcome to liaise on 0755 149 2778 or by contacting her at the Grange.

We look forward to creating a special project for all to enjoy.

Terry Hallam Memorial Quiz Shield

We are proud to announce the annual quiz shield is now on display outside the manager’s office and as winners of the annual quiz Terry, Sheila and Ernest have their names engraved on the trophy. We extend our many thanks to Terry’s family for their kind donation.

Twiddle Squares

In February we sent a ‘call to all crafters’ requesting knitted or crocheted twiddle squares to make sensory blankets for the residents.

We must thank Jan for all her hard work and beautiful crocheting.  You are a star!

It isn’t too late for other crafters to join our project.  Squares should be no more than 10cm/4inch square in bright happy colours using washable wool.  They can be plain or patterned; with or without tactile additions such as ribbons, tassels or pompoms. If you require any further information please contact Shirley.

Birthdays

March is a busy time for birthdays and we celebrate with Kazimiera on the 3rd, Noreen on the 14th, Barbara W on the 23rd and Margaret on the 30th. Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes for your special days.

Clocks

Clocks ‘spring’ forward during the early hours of Sunday 28th March and the evenings should start to become lighter. We all look forward to brighter days.
