GRANGE GAZETTE

MARCH 2019 EDITION

During February a lovely lady joined the Grange as a volunteer and we hope you will extend a big Grange welcome to her.  Julie has previously helped at the summer and winter fayres and been a familiar face when we invite the Risley N.S.Y. Group to our prize bingo and cream tea events.

She has already enjoyed time with residents…. reading your favourite poems and introduced some ladies to French knitting….and Julie will be visiting again during the coming weeks.  Julie

enjoys knitting and crochet and if you

you would like to join her, listen to her reading or simply want a chat she will be happy to see you.

We are fortunate that so many kind people offer

their time to the Grange.  With this in mind, on Saturday 9th March Natasha will be bringing the children from Vibez Danceworks to visit the Grange. They will perform their competition routines in the dining room from approximately 3.30pm onwards and look forward to your support.

Please give them a warm welcome.

On a sad note, Alice has been a regular visitor to the Grange for some time now entertaining everyone with her beautiful songs. However, she will be leaving the area very soon and moving to the south of England.  While we wish her all the best in her new venture she will be sadly missed at the Grange.  Alice will try to visit you all whenever she returns to Long Eaton and Shirley has made some firm bookings with her until the summer.  A special card from the Grange wishing Alice every success for the future will be circulating via Shirley.

Sunday March 31st

The clocks also go forward during the early hours of Sunday morning and we lose an hour on the day.  At least we can start to look forward to the lighter nights and Spring is definitely in the air.

Mother’s Day also falls on March 31st this year.

February Quiz

We enjoyed a bumper bundle of quiz entries last month with Ida, Sheila and Terry all achieving top marks.  The tie-breaker scores will be accumulated until our Quiz Champion of the Year is announced in the new year.

Well done to everyone who entered…it was so close with only two points separating you all.  You are amazing!

March Birthdays

This month we celebrate three birthdays in close succession with Miriam on the 28th, Jean on the 29th and Margaret on the 30th.

Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes and hope you all enjoy your special days.
