THE GRANGE GAZETTE

JUNE 2017 EDITION

AN INVITATION

WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE PLEASURE

 OF YOUR COMPANY

AT OUR ANNUAL SUMMER FAYRE

ON SATURDAY

17th JUNE

1.30pm till 4.00pm

Bring along your Union Jack flag and make our Summer Fayre both spectacular and memorable.

The RAF have contacted Shirley and anticipate their Spitfire will flypast at 1.55pm. The Mayor will arrive at 1.30pm and is looking forward to meeting and talking with residents, family, friends and staff. With entertainment from 1940s singer Tanya Adele we hope for an afternoon of nostalgia, making happy memories for everyone.

While we hope the weather continues to stay warm and sunny in the event of rain we shall carry on in true spirit with ‘Sunshine Indoors’!

Shirley is always grateful for any donation to raise funds and will be happy to accept plants, tombola prizes, and bric-a-brac up until the 16th June. Home-baked cake contributions will be happily received on the day of the fayre.

If anyone would like a stall of their own, or is able to lend a helping hand on the day, please see Shirley, who sends her sincere and many thanks.

Your continued support is always much appreciated and makes such a difference to the activities and entertainment we are able to offer.

Activities

Preparing for the Summer Fayre is always a busy time of year. This year our Resident’s Stall will be selling some lovely handmade items.

At this point I must give a special mention to Kathleen Wiltshire for her industrious knitting.  Kathleen has knitted a total of 58 bonnets for premature babies which we have distributed to the Neonatal Units in Nottingham, Derby and Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Unit kindly contacted the Grange and thanked Kathleen for her generosity and remarkable knitting skills. Well done Kathleen! We are very proud of your achievement.

We hope you enjoyed the visit by ‘Clip

Clop Ponies’.  Holly the miniature pony was a delight and Shirley has several photographs of the occasion which will be displayed on the notice board.  During the summer we hope to bring a ‘Seaside’ event to the Grange and a visit from two rescue donkeys from Skegness.  Shirley will keep you advised.

Birthdays

This month Gladys Longford celebrates her birthday on June 10th.  Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes for a very Happy Birthday

Monthly Quiz

Thank you to everyone who entered the quiz this month. We had a lovely time completing the Ay Up M’Duck quiz during our reminiscence session. This month we have 3 residents with top marks. Well done Ernest, Miriam and Freda.

Staff News
