GRANGE GAZETTE
JULY EDITION 2021
We welcome the month of July with a big ALOHA as we prepare for a trip to the beautiful island of Hawaii and enjoy another Armchair Travel Event. We are looking forward to the sights and sounds of the island including games, hula-style movement to music and crafts; while the kitchen will also provide a taste of the island. Don’t worry if you forget to pack your suitcase as Hawaiian accessories will be available for all!
Be prepared to board the flight from ‘Grange-over-Sandyacre’ on Wednesday 28th July as we look forward to sharing this adventure together.
Every Picture Tells a Story
In addition to our armchair activities each resident will receive a shoe-box-sized suitcase in which to keep happy memories of the seaside, travel or day trips out. There is a very old saying that every picture tells a story and we would like residents, their families and friends to help create this activity. Together we can create a person-centred reminiscence suitcase for each and every resident and we hope to gather photographs, postcards, souvenirs and memorable anecdotes or stories over the coming weeks. Photographs will be reproduced to ensure originals remain in your possession and memorable holiday stories will be printed in book form and also kept in the suitcase.
Please contact Shirley if you have anything you would particularly like to include. (0755 149 2778)
Forthcoming Event
Weather permitting, Johnny Victory will be singing songs from the swinging 60s in the courtyard on Tuesday 20th July from 2pm.
Please take a seat in the dining room after lunch to enjoy an afternoon of your favourite songs.
Date for your August Diary.
Members of the Velocette Motorcycle Owners Club will be holding a ride-by to the Grange during the third week in August. We understand some of our residents have a great passion for motorbikes and the owners club are more than happy to call in with their motorcycles for you to see and hear. Details will be available on the notice board nearer the date.
Thank You
We would like to thank Papa Jon for visiting the courtyard to perform a duet with Peter while he played his new harmonica in the dining room. When restrictions allow, we look forward to arranging more fund-raising events for the Air Ambulance with Papa Jon and his band.
July Birthdays
This month we celebrate two birthdays and congratulate Ernest as he celebrates his 103rd birthday on July 2nd. Sandra enjoys her birthday on July 21st and everyone at the Grange hope you both have the very best of days.
Staff News
We would like to welcome Julie and Natalie to the care team. We hope you will be very happy at the Grange.
