The Grange Gazette January 2023 Edition We hope everyone at the Grange enjoyed a lovely Christmas and we send our best wishes to resident’s, family, friends and staff for the New Year. May you find peace and happiness in all you do. Firstly we would like to thank Father Christmas for taking time in his busy schedule to visit residents at the Grange. We also enjoyed the visit from all the children who called in to see Father Christmas including a tiny baby. Everyone was on the ‘Nice List’ this year and received a special present on the day. We hope Father Christmas will visit again later this year in what is the true spirit of Christmas. Our thanks to Janet for assisting with all our knitting projects and for the knitted stocking fillers we always love. If there are any other knitters out there who would like to help with our fundraising please have a word with Shirley who would be most grateful for your help. 2nd Long Eaton St. Johns Brownies will return at Easter to sing for you. We thank them for lifting our spirits and look forward to their next visit. Thank you to everyone for supporting our Family Christmas Party. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with a buffet, music and laughter. PJ is a great supporter of the Grange and called in to play guitar and also accompany Peter on harmonica while our residents choir entertained everyone with their Christmas Concert. We are currently working with PJ and making plans to use our gardens for an afternoon of music from several different bands during the summer. It will be our very own ‘Festival’. Everyone will be welcome so please see our future newsletters for details. We must also mention our amazing Karen and the kitchen staff. Everyone agreed the buffet was amazing. Thank you for all your hard work. We raised a wonderful £216 from the sale of knitted stocking fillers, tombola and the grand raffle. All funds will be used towards additional activities for all residents. Activities Project The Soundtrack of our Lives Through the coming months we hope to create personalised playlists for everyone inspired by the Playlist for Life charity. We all hear a song and it instantly takes us back to a different time or brings memories of a person or a place. These songs are the soundtrack of your life and we will put together your memorable songs or pieces of music so you are able to enjoy them at any time. Discovering such memories will also be a lovely experience for your families and worksheets will be available in the reception area if you would like to talk with your loved ones about your favourite songs. Completed forms may be given to Shirley or left in the envelopes provided. We look forward to creating beautiful music for all. January Birthdays Everyone at the Grange would like to wish many happy returns of the day to Joyce on the 15th and Margaret S on the 21st of this month. We hope you both enjoy the very best of days. Dates for your January Diary Wednesday 11th at 2pm we have the return of one your favourite singers when Emily Rose joins us once again. Tuesday 17th at 2pm bring your dancing shoes and enjoy an afternoon of Rock n Roll with Big Dave Bopper. Tuesday 24th at 2pm we welcome Kev Smith and look forward to a singalong of your favourite songs from the 60s and 70s. Residents, family, friends and staff are always welcome.
