Entertainment and Activities
for the coming month.
During January we enjoyed a wealth of different activities and during the coming month we are continuing to introduce alternative themes beginning with a visit from Darren on Monday 5th at 2pm.
We already enjoy our own ‘drum circle’ and as anyone who hears or sees our group will agree, this activity certainly engages everyone and leaves the group with a tremendous feeling of wellbeing and enthusiasm.
Residents in our drum circle also enjoy using the Tibetan singing bowl and this month we have new instruments including ‘rain sticks’ and a ‘bamboo xylophone’.
Darren operates vibrational sound to assist in relaxation and will bring along different singing bowls and gongs for the residents and staff to try so we can all experience something new and exciting.
We are also hoping visitors will all receive a little goodie bag of surprises so please make a special date in your diaries.
We would like to thank Paul Newsham for his talk and slide show recalling ‘images from yesteryear’. His visit was well received by everyone and you will be pleased to hear Paul will be returning in March to see you all again. We must also thank Steven Flinders for calling in with his ‘Box of Curiosities’. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon and were both intrigued and amazed by the items Steven bought along.
A big well done to Grace for correctly discerning the use of the final mystery object, pictured here with Steven.
Arts and Crafts
Our ‘Have-a-Go’ crafters are currently trying something new and creating abstracts in the style of Russian artist Kandinsky. These will be displayed in the dining area along with other pieces of work in the style of Jackson Pollock. Kandinsky’s work and his connection to music provides residents with a relaxing environment as we create abstracts to the sound of music. Our craft group enjoys a great deal of satisfaction from the many things they create and we always encourage anyone who thinks they can’t paint or draw because with the right support and inspiration anyone can find their inner creativity. Simply ‘have-a-go’ and you will be amazed at what you can do!
Helping Others
Team Lenney would like to extend a big thank you to Janette for all her hard work. Janette has spent many evenings knitting the pretty Terry’s Chocolate Orange covers which are currently on sale in the reception area at £3 each in aid of Treetops Hospice and the Ward 2 Hospice at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
Team Lenney would also like to thank the Grange for their support and help in their fundraising efforts with monthly raffles and a second live music event planned during warmer weather. Everything we do no matter how grand or how small makes such a difference to the lives of others. Thank you.
Oddments of Wool
With the planned ‘yarnbomb’ of our gardens well under way Shirley would like to appeal for any balls or oddments of wool to help with our project.
Please have a word with Shirley if you are free to assist or if you are able to help with any knitting or crocheting.
February Birthdays
This month we celebrate two birthdays and wish Shirley a very happy birthday on the 21st and Keith R every happiness on the 26th. Everyone at the Grange wishes you both the very best of days.
Staff News
We would like to welcome Siana and Manda to the Kitchen and Domestic Team. We hope you will be very happy at the Grange. We would also like to mention Lorraine who is training as Cook and an incredible member of the Grange Team.
