The Grange Gazette December 2022 Edition Seasons Greetings to residents, families and friends from everyone at the Grange Christmas Entertainment and Activities We begin the Christmas festivities with a visit from the Long Eaton Salvation Army Band during the afternoon of Sunday 4th December when they will be playing in our lovely gardens. We would like to extend our thanks to Colin and hope you will all enjoy the traditional sound of Christmas. On Saturday the 10th Father Christmas will be taking a break from his busy schedule and calling in at the Grange from 10.30. We have a list of children who are already coming along to see Father Christmas, but could you please advise Santa’s Helpers in the manager's office if you haven’t had time to put your little one’s name on the list yet. We wouldn’t like to miss them out from Father Christmas’s naughty or nice book and want to make sure the elves in the workshop make everyone a little something to take home on the day. Santa’s helpers will also be running a Tombola and tickets for our Christmas Raffle will also be on sale. The raffle will be drawn during the Family Party and Elderberries Concert on Wednesday 21st to which everyone is invited. Raffle tickets are £1 per strip of 5 and along with proceeds from the Tombola will be used towards the Resident’s Fund to provide additional activities. Our very own Singing Santa will join us during the afternoon of the 10th and we hope you will enjoy a lovely day. For the under 12s we are running a ‘Design a Christmas Card’ competition with treats for all who participate. Your cards will be on display around the Grange with the best card chosen by the residents. The winner will be picked on the 16th December and receive a £10 One4All Gift Voucher. Enjoy and good luck to all. We have a visit from Sandiacre Churches Together on the 13th and the Breaston Village Singers on the 16th. It is always nice to welcome everyone and we look forward to seeing our good friends again. On the evening of the 15th the 2nd Long Eaton St John’s Brownies will be visiting to sing carols around the Christmas tree in the foyer. We would like to thank them and to let them know how much we appreciate their visit. Our very own choir, the Elderberries, will be singing during the Family Party on the 21st with the help of PJ who visits every fortnight and accompanies our residents with guitar and harmonica. Thank you PJ for everything you do, it is very much appreciated by the residents and staff. We also have a programme of entertainment from your favourite singers during December. Details of all dates can be found in the foyer and we look forward to a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Christmas Dinner Would it be possible for anyone joining the Grange for Christmas Dinner to please notify Caroline or Trish so we are able to liaise with the kitchen and organise seating arrangements. We request a donation of £10 per person for the Resident's Fund and we hope you have an enjoyable time with your loved ones. Christmas Appeal Thank you to everyone who donated toiletries, tinned and dried foodstuffs to our Christmas Appeal for the Canaan Trust. Thanks to your kindness we have been able to make a difference and support a worthwhile cause in the area. December Birthdays We wish both Noreen on the 17th and Doreen T on the 28th much happiness on their birthdays.
