In November last year our Activities Co-ordinator spoke to the RAF regarding the possibility of a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Shirley duly supplied a request accompanied by a letter about our wonderful residents and the support we receive from their families, friends and staff. Our application was forwarded to the Officer in Charge in the hope of a favourable reply.
It is our pleasure to announce we have received their decision and on the day of our annual Summer Fayre 17th June 2017 the Grange will receive a flypast from the Spitfire which is attached to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
So please put a date in your diary and tell your family and friends to bring along their Union Jack flags and join everyone at the Grange for a day to remember.
Shirley will post more details as we receive them from the RAF.
We are pleased to introduce our Grange Family Library which is situated outside the Manager’s office. While we only have a few titles at the moment we are hoping to expand and include an area for helpful information leaflets.
We are also introducing a selection of colouring books, pencils and books for children to use during their visits to the the Grange. These items are located in the area known as ‘Harry’s Corner’, also outside the Manager’s office, and may be found in a ‘Busy-bag’. We hope our visitors will find this helpful and enjoyable.
A big thank you for your continued donations of knitting wool. We are most grateful to receive any donation of craft items and residents are already making cards, toys and blankets for the Summer Fayre. Kathleen is currently knitting premature baby hats for the neo-natal units in Nottingham and Derby. If you would like a copy of this neo-natal knitting pattern please see Shirley.
We are hoping to knit at least 100 forget-me-nots for a project in May. If you would like to help please see Shirley for a pattern…it really is so easy with only 40 stitches and one row of knitting before casting off to shape the petals!
We would also like to say a thank you to everyone for joining in the ‘Wear a Hat’ event. Our tombola was a great success and Shirley has forwarded a donation of £50 for brain tumour research.
