September 2016

We invite family, friends and residents to join our Macmillan Fundraising Event on the afternoon of Wednesday September 28th between 2 o’clock and 3.30.

With refreshments, cake and raffle we hope you will enjoy a lovely afternoon   raising funds for Macmillan.

We look forward to the pleasure of your company.

We have a lovely month ahead and new activities to share.  More 'Busy-Bags' are appearing around the Grange.  Each bag contains a variety of items relating to a theme. For example, we have a ‘Busy-Bag’ containing RAF memorabilia, the Battle of Britain film on DVD, the History of the Spitfire on DVD, a CD of music by the RAF Band and a jigsaw showing a Spitfire and Pilots. If you would like a bag containing your favourite topic please have a word with Shirley.

Thank you to everyone for joining our picnic last month. Although it was cold and rained on the day it didn’t dampen our spirits.  We had sunshine indoors and enjoyed entertainment and picnic fayre. We raised £99 through the sale of bric-a-brac and a tombola and we have added this sum to the Resident’s Fund.  Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to All Saints Church in Sawley. Shirley has written a letter of thanks to the church for providing an excellent lunch and has also forwarded your compliments regarding the display of beautiful flowers.

Family and friends are most welcome on the afternoon of September 21st when WAVE will visit the Grange with a collection of vintage films about the local area.  ‘Wyvern Amateur Video Enthusiasts’ will be showing their ‘Carnival’ themed films from approximately 2.15pm and their visits always evoke wonderful memories.

We will also be thanking the lovely ladies and gentlemen of Risley on September 30th.  Not only do they volunteer at Risley Village Hall but they make our visits so special and welcoming. As a thank you we have invited them to visit the Grange for prize bingo, refreshments and cake.  With a free raffle and delicious ‘Birds’ cream cakes for everyone, make this a date in your diary.

September Birthdays

We have a number of birthdays this month.  Lionel on the 7th, Graham on the 15th and Olive Kirk on the 19th.  Everyone at the Grange wish you happiness on your special days.  On September 9th Alice will be 101 years young and we send congratulations and best wishes for a lovely day.

August Quiz

Well done to everyone who entered our quiz and congratulations to Miriam, Millie, Cynthia, Kath, Freda Love and Olive Goss who all gained top marks.

And finally an inspirational quote for September

is ever wasted.
