THE GRANGE GAZETTE

APRIL 2019 EDITION

At last the weather has started to improve and spring is in the air. We are beginning to look forward to the warmer weather and during recent activities we have recalled our ‘Bank Holiday’  trips and holidays in ‘Skeggy’.  We really did have the best of times.

With this in mind Shirley has been working towards bringing the seaside to the Grange and, after many sleepless nights, has secured an Art at the HeART project through the Erewash Public Health Locality Fund which will be managed by the Art Development Team at Erewash Borough Council.

The garden will become our very own seaside and your pieces of art work will brighten and the corridors and lounge areas.  Over nine weeks Karen Herrick, a professional artist, will be joining the Grange and bringing our thoughts and ideas to life while teaching residents and staff new skills.  The first session will be held on Wednesday 24th April when Karen will be helping you to make your own felt pictures from natural fibres.  Making  felt material isn’t something we do everyday so it will be an interesting start to all her visits.  Future sessions will include printing and stencilling, applique, making bunting and decoupage.  Your art work will be photographed and together with your holiday recollections professionally printed and made into a hardcover book.  The seaside event will culminate on Wednesday 3rd July when it will be Karen’s final visit to the Grange and we celebrate all your achievements.

We would like to display a banner during this time

and choose a seaside name for the Grange. Please find a suggestion slip attached to the newsletter and discuss your ideas with Shirley.

Family and friends are invited to join residents at all sessions, the dates of which will be listed on both notice boards.

Karen’s works can be viewed on her own website

www.harlequinarts.co.uk

We are looking forward to an exciting time which we hope you will all enjoy.
